PROGRAM:

Adrian Garcia at Podium 120909
Gene introduced Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia who spoke briefly about crime in Harris County.  Sheriff Garcia said that the Harris County Sheriff’s department is the largest in Texas and the 3rd largest in the US.  60% of the Sheriff’s budget is used for incarceration of criminals.  The incarceration of these criminals must be administered and supervised by deputies of the HCSO.

Julia Harris at Podium 120909
Deputy Julia Harris due to her quick thinking and quick action saved another deputy’s life who had been overpowered by an inmate intent on serious bodily harm of the deputy.  Sheriff Garcia noted that although these officers are not on the street in the same capacity that we normally see deputies they are an invaluable asset to the department and are seldom recognized for their bravery, quick thinking and unfailing dedication to the job of protecting the citizens of Harris County.

Julia Harris with Award 120909
Robert presented Deputy Julia Harris with Houston Westchase Rotary Club’s Vocational Service Award for 2009.  Thank you Deputy Harris for your outstanding courage, integrity and selfless dedication to your profession.  It is our great privilege and pleasure to honor you for your service to Harris County's citizenry.

Thanks to you Sheriff Garcia and all of your officers.  Great program Gene.
